Jordan Burton / Jburt  b.2000 (Columbus, Ohio)

Jordan Burton (JBurt) born and based in Columbus, Ohio, is a painter and digital artist. His practice is a mix of figures, gesture and realism combined with cubist abstract obscurity work. At a young age Jordan was influenced by graffiti street art and cartoon characters, working with markers, pens, and also drawing on his phone. To now Jordan works primarily with oil paint and digital illustration in Procreate. When the pandemic hit rather than slowing down, it became a turning point in his career. He dedicated more time to creating new work, selling pieces and working on projects with other creatives, which helped establish his name. He held his first solo exhibition at WIT Gallery followed by many group showings around Ohio and in New York city, also his first commercial gallery exhibition in 2025, expanding his community base.

His work is rooted in personal experiences, black identity living in the midwest, emotions, often reflecting on themes of mental health and the ways people process or struggle to express it. Sometimes simply documenting life without an overall message to it. Jordan makes a combination of cubism realism through figures, he makes a scale look to the skin tone with color blocking of the figures. Using layered shades, hues, and varying saturations, he creates shapes that bring depth to the figures. He blends his style with deep shadows and vibrant colors to compliment the skin tone shapes. Jordan’s current goal is to continue developing his artistic voice, creating until his ideas are fully realized, and collaborating with others to bring their visions to life. As well as to inspire everyone around him.
